Hi everyone, Nancy here with more fun techniques with Distress Inks. Today I want to share how to make a "wrinkle free" distress. For this technique you will need various colors of distress inks and a craft sheet.
Begin by directly applying various colors of Distress Ink Pads to the surface of the craft sheet.
Then drag your tag across your craft sheet.
If you have any un-inked areas simply place that area of the paper on any left over ink on the sheet.
Finally Dry your paper or tag using an iron or heat tool.
To finish the look, ink the edges with a contrasting color.
For the final project I spritzed my tag with a bit of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I added a bit of Prima lace that I dragged across an ink pad and a few Vintage Trinkets.
Hope you have a great day.

A Guy Frame
Hello! I'm excited to share today's post with you :) Your Memories Here is now carrying Tim Holtz and Ranger products and I had so much FUN playing with them! I've always been a fan of the Distress Inks and my love of them keeps growing with each project I make.
Here is a picture frame I decorated. It started out as a plain MDF frame that holds a 4x6 photo (the same on I used here) I covered it with some fabulous patterned paper from DCWV using my Helmar Acid Free glue to adhere it down (because that stuff will hold it FOREVER) and then got busy "decorating".
I used Vintage Photo and Black Soot Distress inks to grunge up the edges. Then came the really fun part, making those gears! I cut out the gears with the Tim Holtz Sizzix die and then embossed each one using the Distress Clear Embossing pad and various metallic finish embossing powders like gold, silver and a chestnut brown color. Then I got inky with them using the Vintage Photo, Tea Dye and Black Soot Distress Inks to achieve the desired old/grungy/rusty gear look. I gave them a quick shot of heat to set them a little before I coated them. Some I used Rock Candy Distress paint for a crackled finish and some I used glossy accents on (but I hit those with the heat gun before they were completely dry to make the finish bubble and wrinkle) I was ecstatic with the results! Before I glued the gears down I used the negative of the chipboard from the Sizzix cut is a mask and sprayed it with a little Sugar Maple Glimmer mist for a rusty/graffiti look. Then I adhered all the gears down with Helmar 450 Quick Dry because it dries fast, clear and holds STRONG.
To finish it off I hammered a few over sized metal eyelets into the frame and added a chipboard bookplate frame that I distressed the same as the gears, to hold a title for whatever photo my hubby decides to put inside (still not sure if it will be a picture of his motorcycle or our girls ;0 )
Just a reminder, this is the last week to submit an entry for the YMH Design Team call, if you'd like to post your creations here every week and get awesome products a wholesale cost then this call is for you!
Also this is the last week to use the coupon code SUMMER to save 10% off your entire order at Your Memories Here.com
Have a great week!

Homecoming Traditions w/Cosmo Cricket & Tim Holtz!
Oh, I just love these photos of our kiddo. Are they not adorable? I knew these pics would be perfect on a LO for my Your Memories Here DT post this week. Kiddos grow up so fast & these photos are from last fall; taken in our yard right before freshman homecoming. It was definitely time to get them scrapped...lol! He & his girlfriend looked so darn adorable in their homecoming mums, which are very elaborate & a long standing tradition where we live. As you can see, the streamers are very long & some of the girls' hang past their ankles! And yes, they can get very expensive, but this year I think I'm gonna try my hand at making theirs...we'll hope for the best & I'll make sure to let you know how they turn out too. It was so much fun watching them wear them to school that day & then on to the football game where, of course, we won!
I knew I needed something special for these pics, so I turned to the Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 collection. Doesn't it just make ya swoon? I love all things Cosmo Cricket, as y'all know, & the Your Memories Here Online Store has some fab Cosmo Cricket goodies you are sure to love. Especially THIS KIT...you must get one. I have made so many projects from it & literally have a ton of stuff left for even more. Besides, at $10 you can't beat that price! Now please, make me very happy by grabbing up one of the kits for yourself & sharing with me your lovely creations!! Also, the YMH Store is now carrying Tim Holtz Ideology & Distress Inks, plus some Stickles by Ranger! Ooohhh, I am so excited...lol!

American Life Saver
With so many challenges in blogland focusing on July 4th (Independence Day here is USA) I thought I would do another patriotic card. If you remember from my last WMS waltz post, I don't really send out 4th of July cards, and so I've created another card that can really be sent anytime. The sentiment was perfect for the colors as this could go to a military person, firefighter, police officer, or anyone you think of as an American hero. The card came together in under 30 (a rare thing for me, lol). The sentiment is from Verve's Sweet On You while the frame the banner and flowers are layered on is from Prima. The card base is 4.25 x 4.25 so that the flowers and sentiment can take center stage (and allow the banner to hang off of the edge). I layered some white Prima flowers on top of some red ones that reminded me of fireworks to represent the stripes and the blue Prima flower is for holding our stars. I sprayed the card base with Tattered Angles Denim Blue and then sponged the edges with some Broken China Distress Ink (as well as the ink for the sentiment and the edge of the banner). I used foam dots behind the red frame and glued the red/white flowers down with Helmar's 450 quick dry and the blue flower with some Scrapdots for some height. Your Memories Here not only has the Prima flowers and stamps, but the glues, and now Distress Inks.

Let's Get Distressed
When Kristina told me that the Your Memories Here store would begin carrying Tim Holtz distress inks I was thrilled. These are a tool that I use on just about every layout I make. So, I thought it would be fun to share with you a few different ways to use them. Today, let's start with a simple distress.
For this technique you will need your inks, a water mister (I picked mine up at the dollar store) and a heat tool. I like to use water when I am distressing as I feel it gives the paper more of a worn texture.
Begin by crumpling your paper. Here I chose to use a simple manila tag. Remember to always start crumpling your paper from the center, it just makes it easier. Next, simply rub the Distress pad over the project. You can work with one color,
or layer them for more depth.
next, mist with water...
then dry with your heat tool. I find that drying the inks allows me to control the flow of the ink better.
And finally, because I love a bit of bling, I spritzed my tag with a bit of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.
a fun stamp....
and my tag is ready for a project.
Hope you have fun with your mists.

For the Dads
The second card uses Verve's Protector two stamp set and some wonderful SEI paper from YMH called Windsor. I stamped the word in grey and then cut out to be palaced over the mat that I clear embossed the collage onto vanilla c/s and then used Distress Ink's Antique Linen, Old Paper, and Pumice Stone to get the words to pop a little more. I added a little Pumice Stone to the SEI paper as well as I don't tend to do "clean" mats often. I love that YMH is now selling Distress Inks (and more). The twill at the bottom was folded over and slipped through a ribbon buckle.

Inky Goodies
Hi everyone. Nancy here with a quick tutorial on using acrylic paint as a resist medium. I am working on some tags for a swap and thought this would make a fun background. Your Memories Here is now carrying Tim Holtz Distress Inks, and you know that just make this shabby girl's day!
Dampen a paper towel with water. Do not use a baby wipe as they tend to be too wet.
Gently wipe the ink off your paint, revealing your original stamped image.
For this technique you will need acrylic paint (I like to use white) and a brush,Tim Holtz Distress Inks, your stamp or stamps, paper towel and water.
To start, paint your stamp with the acrylic paint, and stamp your project.
Select a variety of inks to mix and blend together and begin inking your project. (did I mention I love Distress Inks? hee hee)
Don't worry about covering over your stamped image. Continue adding color till you get the look you like.
Dampen a paper towel with water. Do not use a baby wipe as they tend to be too wet.
Gently wipe the ink off your paint, revealing your original stamped image.
Embellish as desired. I used some gorgeous Prima paper, bling, and lace trim, a bit of seem binding dyed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and for sparkle, Stickles, (did I mention that the YMH store now carries Stickles as well?)
I am not quite sure these are done. I may have to live with them for a day or so before I decide. But really wanted to share.
Thanks for dropping by.

Inspired By Disney
Hi all, hope your week has been off to a great start. I'm here today to show you a project that I have been wanting to make ever since I returned from my trip to Disney (more than a month ago!)
They had the most gorgeous topiaries and floral displays at the parks, especially Epcot because it was during the International Flower and Garden Festival that we were there.
So here is my tiny topiary:
Cute right? I made it with gorgeous Prima roses. Do you want to know how? Well, I'm going to do a LIVE class on it Wednesday, June 22 at 9:00pm EST on our Ustream channel! So you can watch and see (and chat too) and if you can't make it for the live show we'll record it so you can watch later.
There is also a kit for this so you can have everything you need to make one in a convenient bundle :) Check out the kit HERE and don't forget to watch the show next Wednesday evening!
Don't forget about our DT call that we have going on right now. Enjoy the rest of your week!

A Summer Hello!
Okay, first I've got to start my post with a huge apology. It looks like last week my post didn't go live & I'm not sure what happened. I had been so very busy last week that I never even checked it, which I normally do. So now I've come to realize that since my post didn't go live last week, I need to re-post it today. I hope you accept my apologies & enjoy the card I created with y'all in mind!
I've noticed lately that doilies seem to be all the rage in the papercrafting world, along with banners too. So why not create a card featuring both trendy little subjects? That is exactly what I did this week for my Your Memories Here DT project! As you know, I love me some Cosmo Cricket so this week I decided to see what I could create with simply CC scraps. And this is what I came up with! All of the patterned paper is from the YMH Cosmo Cricket Hey Sugar Kit (there are two different versions!) that you can grab RIGHT HERE. It is chock full of goodies & I still have plenty of product left after making several projects. Definitely worth $10! The pretty little doilies I picked up at a yard sale last weekend for a quarter & I've already played with them a couple times. I decided to make the banner out of circles vs. the usual pennant style so that it blended with my doilies a little better. I also used my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to spritz some white flocked letters & make them match my creation. It's a simple, summery card but I love it!

A Day Late
but hopefully not a dollar short. Here's my latest project using some favs from Your Memories Here. I had so much fun with this little bag and I think it might still be a work in progress kind of thing. Most of these supplies can be found at Your Memories Here. I have been very intrigued with all of these art journals I've been seeing lately and have been wanting to try my hand at one. However, the thought of creating going that far out of my comfort zone is still trumpting my wanting to work on one, so I thought I would do the next best thing: a canvas project. I took a small Donna Downey canvas bag and went to town. The first thing I did was pray the bag with Tattered Angles's Glimmer Mist in Patina, Key Lime, and Purple Pansy. Once done I sprayed some Scotch Guard to help seal in the colors so they don't run if it gets wet. Before I took my copics and created some doodles I ironed on the flocked saying from Donna Downey. My flowers are Prima and the large one I sprayed with both TA's Patina and Purple Pansy. I replaced the pearl center with a white one to work with the over touches of white. I layered a sprayed a hydrangea flower in Patina and layered it on a white flower that was coated in TA's Glitter Glam Chandelier (also coated the doddled button in the same GG). To finish off the little bag I used lots of Prima's Say it in Crystals that I cut apart. I glued everything down using Helmar's 450 quick dry.

Playing with Prima
Hi everyone, Nancy here with a layout I just completed using one of my favorite manufacturer's products, Prima Marketing.
I love all the different styles of flowers that Prima makes and had a great time mixing them together on this layout.
I added in a few Prima pearls and a fun little Prima bird that I painted with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I also painted a white Prima rose with the same Glimmer Mist to make it match a bit better.
I love the way all these pink and yellow florals played off my niece's photo.
Hope you are having a great week.
Hugs.

Birthday Card with Dimension
Hi All! Feels like I've been away forever (OK well, at least the month of May) So much to do and so little time, I'm afraid my crafting suffers the most from it.
Well, last Friday was my grandma's birthday ( I won't say how old she is but if you saw her, you wouldn't believe me anyway) So I just HAD to make her a special birthday card. I was reading my sweet and incredibly talented friend, Karli's blog where she made this card and said it was so easy! I thought 'really? easy? OK I gotta try it.' You know what? She was right! Now some of you are probably thinking, "duh I knew that already Krissy, I've made tons" Well, I've always been too lazy to try because I though it must be a lot of work. I was SO WRONG. So if you've never given these tri-fold shutter cards a try, please do. You'll be thanking me just like I'm thanking Karli now!
*Disclaimer: I must apologize for the poor quality of the photos and the distracting backgrounds (I tried to edit the best I could) but I had taken these photos at my Mom's house, with my cell phone, right before we left to go to my Grandma's*
The details: This card is ALL Prima!
I used the Sparkling Spring 6x6 paper pad for the patterned papers, the flowers are assorted Prima's the lace trim is Prima Alencon and I even cut it apart to use the individual flowers as centers for the hydrangeas! There are also a couple of Vintage Trinkets on there.
Wanna know a little secrete? I decorated this entire card while driving from central Ohio to Pittsburgh PA!
Here's the proof:
Yep, that's Helmar 450 Quick Dry you see sitting in my cup holder!
So go try something new today!
