Making Time for Crafts

Hi all! Just stopping by to share a project, we'll be resuming normal daily posting after the new year.
I'm enjoying a nice break from the regular day to day life stuff. My hubby has some time off work so he's sharing the "home" duties. That has given me a chance to get in my studio and play with some items I've had on hand, but haven't gotten around to using yet.
I was chatting with the girls during last nights Live with Prima class and Tim Holtz Rock Candy Crackle paint came up in the topic. I had bought a jar of it some time ago but never tried it out and really wasn't sure what to do with it. Well Cari and the other ladies said I really must give it a try so I promised that I would play with it today.
So I decided to start a mini album just so I could use the product. This is the cover of the album. I used some of my most favorite (and hoarded) Prima products on here. The paper is from the Pastiche collection- it's called Quirky. The flowers are Prima mini roses and fairy tale roses (which started out white and I colored them to match my project) and a Prima Lilliput rose (in yellow, but looks more like a cream). I also used some rose leaves as a foundation for the flowers. The lace trim across the bottom is from Prima too. It is also a creamy white and I colored it with antique linen and tea dye distress inks to get the desired color for my page. The magnifying glass is a Tattered Angels nature glimmer chip.It has an embossed design on it and I sprayed it with glimmer mist for color and shine.

For the "glass" of the magnifying glass, I used the rock candy crackle paint and then when it cracked and dried, I rubbed some broken china distress ink into the cracks for more definition.

I'm not sure what this mini album is going to be for yet, but I think it's off to a lovely start.
I hope I've convinced you to use some of those cherished supplies you've been hoarding and turn them into something even more beautiful.

A Little Break

Hello all - you may have noticed this isn't Cassie posting this Sunday ;)
It's Kristina, letting you all know that I gave the team some time off to enjoy with their families and get caught up on the busy things we all have going on at home this time of year.

You may catch a post or two from us anyway since we do love to craft but for the most part, regular posting won't resume until next year! (wow that seems so weird to type that)

For those who subscribe to the monthly newsletter, I will probably be sending out January's news in late December to let you know of some changes we have coming in the new year.
Also, our winner of the blog hop, Lori, hasn't contacted us with her mailing information yet. So we may be picking a new winner tomorrow - we'll see?

Paper Star Ornaments

I saw this the other day in an email and I recognized it was the same concept as the Marion Smith Mini Pocket Book so I wanted to try it. I had this gorgeous paper from Studio 8 called Evergreen. I cut 6 strips 1"x3" and 6 strips 1"x4". Then glue the edges together of a shorter piece inside the longer piece and set aside to let dry. The glue the other edges together. Next glue all the pieces together and this is what you get.
I used Prima lace to hang it on the tree. I like the antiquey look. I also used brown corduroy distress ink on all the edges to cover up the white paper and grunge it up a bit.
I think I'll make some more with the girls and use lots of colors and glimmer mist. You could make a super cute garland out of these and if you changed the length of you paper you can make your stars any size you want. Just make one piece an inch longer.
I hope you give it a shot. They are sooo easy and super fun to make. Check out YMH store for your supplies! Happy Holidays!

Silhouette Song Bird Card

Here are a couple of seasonal cards I'd like to share with you today.
While these are both indeed Christmas cards, I think they could also be used for other occasions by adding the appropriate sentiment.

For both of these cards I used the same basic supplies, I just changed a couple of things.
The stamped image is the Unity Itty Bitty Songbird stamp. The textured background was made using a Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder (which works perfectly in my Cuttlebug) I further enhanced the texture with some distress inks. The background paper/card base is the DCWV Handmade Christmas Stack.
To stamp my images I used Stazon (in timber brown and blazing red) I prefer Stazon when needing a clean crisp image and because Unity stamps have such amazing detail I wanted it all to show. The flower and leaf on the second card are both Prima, I just added a little bit of red glitter to the flower to make it a bit more festive.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Special Friend

Hi! It feels like forever since I've posted something new:) I'm all moved into our lovely home and am so thankful to be getting all settled right before Christmas. I have my craft area up and running and it sure does feel good to be creating again! For my share today I created this card that will go with a gift package I am making for a friend. It coordinates with the mini pizza box I made for the Handmade Christmas blog hop. My friend loves tea (as do I) and I thought this paper and Prima goodies made it perfect. The paper is from SEI, the pretty ribbon and lace trim and rose is from Prima and of course I had to use a few Dew Drops. I also used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to one of my mats that I cut using my Cricut. I hope you are enjoying all the things that go along with the holiday season...remember the true reason for the season! Hugs....

Christmas Cookies (take two)

I'm back with more (and better) photos.

Here is my two page layout using 2 Sketchy Thursdays sketches.

On this page you can kinda see the glimmery sparkle of the Tattered Angels New limited edition Santa Baby glimmer mist. We have several of the new winter colors in stock at Your Memories Here. I sprayed it on the solid red background paper of both pages.

I also used the same patterned paper on both pages to to keep them similar while using two different layouts for each page. This page is based on this weeks current Sketchy Thursdays challenge.

I just love the little cookie cutter embellies that I found, they are so perfect for these pages.

The title letters on the banner (and Cookies on the opposite page) are velvety flocked stickers. The beautiful green Prima lace trim has a nice Christmas feel to it. And the bright cheery colors are perfect for the fun photos and activity.

Don't forget to check out Jess' Christmas tag post from today too, it has a wonderful vintage Christmas look to it.

Christmas Tag

Hi everyone:
It's Jess from KinderStampO. Christmas is my favorite holiday and there is nothing I love making more than tags and mini albums. So here goes one of the many tags I will be making this season. I used some papers I picked up from Your Memories Here and some icicle Stickles. The stamp sets are from Unity Stamp Co and the Santa image is from http://www.twistedpapers.com/.

I hope you enjoy it as much I did making it : )

Christmas Cookies

I am so not happy with the quality of this photo and I am definitely going to take some more tomorrow. But I really wanted to get this post up today (even though there is only 30 min. left in today)

This two page layout is based on 2 different Sketchy Thursday sketches. the page on the left is this weeks current sketch challenge. I hope if you click on the photo you can see the images better :(
My background paper is just plain red cardstock that I sprayed with Santa Baby glimmer mist. The patterned paper is DCWV Christmas stack from last year. The green lace trim is Prima and you can get it and many other laces at YMH. Can you see the tiny little cookie cutter embellies? They are just so cute and go with this layout perfectly! I got them a while ago at Hobby Lobby and I'm not sure if they are still available (sorry to tease). OK seriously, I'll be back tomorrow with some new pics. See you then!

DIY Be Merry Sign!

Happy Sunday y'all! Did you make through Thanksgiving without gaining 10lbs? I don't think I did...lol! But now that Thanksgiving has passed & we have all lived through another Black Friday to tell about it, that means Christmas is upon us! Woo-Hoo! I am soooo psyched for Christmas this year, probably since I have more time than ever before to really focus on the holiday. And since I have some more time on my hands, I figured I would whip up a little Christmas cheer with an easy to craft (you can find most of the products in the Your Memories Here Store!) sign & share it with y'all!

This little sign, believe it or not, was a mere dusty leftover cabinet door sitting in the garage until a few days ago! I simply dug it out, unscrewed the handle & hinges, and then spray painted it black everywhere but where I knew my paper would be. After it was completely dry, I Mod Podged this beautiful diecut piece of Prima paper (which I had used black ink on to distress the edges) to the board. Next, I used some Prima crystals to outline the bird & a swirl to define a branch. Then, I used some black Tattered Angels cardstock (from the Spooky Findings kit) & my Cricut to cut the phrase. I used some silver ribbon to tie on some vintage jingle bells & then hot glued some black ribbon to hang it up with. I added a vintage black button to the center of the bow & for the finishing touch, spritzed it with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Pearl for a lovely, subtle shimmer. I just loved how it turned out!!

So, do you have some old boards or cabinets lying around your house? If so, dust them & create a simple but fun Christmas sign. It's so easy & will add the perfect touch to your holiday themed decor! And, if you create something inspired by a post here on the YMH blog, we would love to see it!!

Make sure to visit the Your Memories Here Store for all your crafty needs...right now there is a fabulous clearance sale going on plus some awesome holiday/winter themed products you'll love! You can even add some of them onto your Christmas list! Until next time, Happy Craftin'!!

Prima Live: Fabric layout

I hope ya'll have been enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday. At my house, we're only half done as we'll be celbrating again today and then on Sunday. That being said, this will be another quick post. I've got my first Prima Live class projects to show ya'll today. I've been wanting to do one of these for a while now and decided to jump right on in. This is the fabirc layout one from YMH as I've also been wanting to play with cavas. I am really impressed with all of the goodies that come with the kit as I could make another one and really only need to buy another canvas page. I followed along with the link that YMH listed on the store site and completed this page in under an hour. The only I still need to do is include a little journaling (all of my pages must have a little something written) but I need to get the right pen from my mom. The video was easy to follow and bonus was that I could pause and rewind it when needed. Now that I've done one I can change it up next time is I wanted too. Ya'll have to check out the Prima Live products from YMH as there are some great choices. In fact, I just ordered the Art Try Display kit as my next one :)

Snow

So, do you have 10 minutes? Want to make a seriously simple scrapbook page that doesn't look like you spent 10 minutes on it. Well, step right up & take a peek at this:

 sorry, I couldn't take a better pic :(
To create this quick & easy page, all I did was use my Cricut (on my Gypsy) to cut the snowflake from the "When it's Cold Outside" cart. (Did you notice the snowflake is made up of little reindeer heads???) It went *perfectly* with the reindeer on the SEI Paper. I cut a mat layer for a pic added some Stickles and pearls to the snowflake and on the end of each reindeer, I added a red bling nose. Super easy peasy! Yaaaay!
Here's a closer peek of the reindeer snowflake:

My Cricut and the gorgeous SEI paper, made this project so easy to do. All the embellies can be found at the YMH store. Be sure to check out the Prima kits on sale too!

Thanks for peeking today!
Gotta Go!

Pocket Mini Album

I hope everyone has enjoyed their Thanksgiving! I sure did. Today I have a LWP Mini Pocket Album that I did and I LOVED it. The Prima papers are so nice and thick and easy to work with. I love all the flowers and that brown trim is so sparkly. I really like the journal cards and there are A LOT in there.
I like the versatility of this project, it's an album AND a decoration! :)

The little journal spot in the corner was punched from the packaging of one of the flowers. I really like the attention to detail, even in the packaging.
The pockets are so cool and the journal cards fit perfect! I even used some Prima packaging for one.
I love how it folds out and you can use it as a table decoration. This would be a great Christmas gift as well!
So go check out yourmemorieshere.com and see what Live With Prima kit you would like to try!
Thanks for looking and I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
