Mini Canvas with Gelato Background

Good morning! Today I have a mini canvas to share with you that has a beautiful background I created using Faber-Castell Metallic Gelatos in Violet, Blue and Teal, which I got from Your Memories Here

If you haven't used Gelatos before, you really need to try them! They are so much fun!

Here is what I did...

Making the background was super simple. I didn't even prime my canvas since it was purchased primed. I scribbled the Gelatos in the three colors in angled stripes of varying sizes over the canvas and then used a paintbrush that had been dipped in water to blend the colors together. It makes me think of the sky!

I embossed the doily stamp in black embossing powder and then added the sentiment. I made a mist using my Teal Gelato to spray over the sentiment after it was adhered.

The flower is actually two flowers from two different Prima flower packages that I received in my Prima Flower Grab Bag from YMH.  You get five different packages! There are still some of these Grab Bags available in the store! Be sure to get one soon!!

Hope you've enjoyed my little canvas! See you next week!! Have a great day!

Heidi's Making Cards with the Nostalgia Kit

IMG_1910

Last week I created a 12X12 Mixed Media Canvas using the Nostalgia Kit from Your Memories Here on UStream. While we were creating, the girls challenged me to use the kit to make other projects specifically cards. I created three cards so far and still have tons of the kit left. Stay tuned for the other cards! And make sure you grab that kit before they are all sold out.

A manl-Y kinda birthday-with Prima!

Hi friends! Well, I'm back this time with a fun, masculine birthday card I designed using products from Your Memories Here.   I've really become partial lately to the steampunk type themes. I think they represent a masculine yet, feminine appeal to them. Depending on how you use the images. I chose a Prima mask here that I purchased up at Sweet Retreat. This HAS to be one of my fav's. I then used some Tim Holtz distress ink  in walnut to add the detail. I used a Craftsman stamp for the little guy on the front of the mask as well as some Craftsman wooden letters, stickers and washi tape. The other black washi tape and fabric tape is from the Engraver line.
Lastly, I added a Craftsman bottle cap charm to finish. An easy card to make with wonderful supplies available from Your Memories Here. What more could a girl ask for?! Aside from winning the lottery to buy EVERYTHING crafty! : P just kiddin'. Anyhoo, I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend and thank you for joining me today!!

Dream Big 100% and Beautiful You - A Card and Tag

For my share with you this week, I have created a card and a tag that I made using some fun products you can find at Your Memories Here.

For both the card and tag, I used papers from the Hello Friend paper pack by Glitz Design. You can get this either on its own or in a pack with three other Glitz paper pads.  I inked the edges of the papers with some Vintage Photo Distress Stain

The arrow and the balloon image are from the Cottage Farms Paper Goods Ephemera pack. I LOVE this pack of ephemera. There are so many cute pieces in it.

My tag is simple with a stamped sentiment, flowers from the Prima Flower Grab Bag and a Hope Chest Burlap Butterfly by Pink Paislee. I embossed a swirl under the butterfly, but unfortunately it is hard to see in the image.

I hope you enjoy the remainder of your week! See you soon!

Product listed below can be found in the Your Memories Here Store and were used in my projects today. :)

A Happy Mixed Media Canvas using Glitz Design

Hello everyone! Today I have a canvas to share that I made using the Cashmere Dame paper pack by Glitz Design, as well as a couple of other items from Your Memories Here.

The background of this canvas was quickly created by adhering four different pieces of paper from the pack to my canvas and going over it with a light coat of white paint to give it a more washed out look. I painted the sides and edges in yellow for contrast and added a light pink towards the inside edges and in various spots inside the canvas.

I hand cut flowers out of other patterned papers from the pad and went over them using some Pitt pens and paint. The centers of the flowers are Prima Wood Icon Flowers that I colored black using an ink pad. Book tape was used to create the stems. I colored it using some mists, and added some doodles and rubons for more texture.

I used the Prima lattice stencil for the blue stenciled portions on the top right corner and on the left side of the canvas using modeling paste that I painted over with some light blue paint.

The canvas was originally a canvas I had messed up on. I hated the original background and even though I covered it back up with gesso, it never really looked right. Covering it with the Glitz papers fixed the problem. The sides were originally a lighter shade of yellow, so I made them darker to match my new papers. This project shows that you can take your mistakes and turn them into something you are happy with. Overall, this canvas doesn't use a lot of products, but it looks good in all it's simplicity.

I hope you have enjoyed it! Have a wonderful day!

Easter 2013 Mini Album Video

Today, I am sharing a short video with you. I created a mini book of the Easter weekend that I spent with my family in PA. The book is so bulky and full of great papers, techniques and embellishments. It was almost impossible to photograph so I hope you get a better idea of the book through the video! Make sure to check out the Prima goodies at Your Memories Here.

Memories of flying

Hi fellow crafters!! I am sharing with you today a very special postcard using a vintage/steampunk theme to create a fun, memorable way to recall my first flight on an airplane. Yep, I finally got to mark that one off my bucket list at age 45. You see, I've always lived and grown up in my home town of Florida and never had the money growing up as a kid to fly on a plane let alone, having a reason to as all our family members have been in the area. That said, I made it a goal to someday take a flight somewhere. I'm happy to say too, it was worth every penny. Not to mention the unforgettable thrill and the fun that was had on the other end, getting to attend the Sweet Retreat with some fabulous known and new friends! It was exhilarating! and I wanted to capture that somehow. Well, with wonderful crafty treasures purchased from Your Memories Here and Prima, it was a breeze! Here I am using mostly embellishments from the Craftsman goody bag a long with some Prima packaging that I hang on to (an invaluable resource IMHO!). a Prima mask to add some layers and some wonderful Faber Castell gelatos to add some color and dimension! I hope you like it as much as I do and I encourage to visit Kristina today to check out all the latest new releases as well as some oldies but, goodies! Thank you for joining me today and letting me share with you one of the highlights of my life. :P Have a great week!!

Reaching My Art Goals With Heidi

IMG_1638

IMG_1639

Do you set art goals for yourself? I usually don't actually but I did for the Summer. I am a Dean in a school in New York City and we are officially on Summer break. I tend to jump from art project to art project which works for me. I don't like to be locked in with my creativity and tend to grab whatever I feel like working on. My creative muse works that way and when I try to steer her differently my art suffers.

So, I did set a goal for this summer. I plan to scrapbook all of my pics from 2013 which actually isn't a ton. I tend to take most of my pictures during the summer months because I have time to explore NYC and visit my family in PA. These pages are from March and are a perfectly simple Sunday of enjoying this amazing city with my love. I grabbed a ton of stuff from my stash and mixed those goodies with new Prima from Your Memories Here.

Creating Memories Mixed Media style!

Hi friends! I'm back with a mixed media project to share with you. I finally pulled out some Prima Mixed Media Covers which are color resist canvas, I purchased a while back from Your Memories Here. I colored both covers up with some Adirondack Color Wash sprays and then attached some Prima flowers and various chipboard as well as wood embellishments (stained and coated with Ranger rock candy) to adorn both covers. In addition, I wanted to add a little extra interest to the inside of the back cover, so I sprayed Adirondack color wash spray through a Prima wood grain stencil. Furthermore, I added some a torn piece of Prima packaging and stained it.
I will work on  some page inserts a little later on. I worked on the covers first to get an overall feel for the reflection of the pages I would like to create for the inside. I appreciate you joining me today and remember, all your crafting goodies are available through Kristina at Your Memories Here where you can create lasting memories of your own!!
