Let Your Dreams Take Flight - Mixed Media

Hello and good evening!  Emily here with a mixed media canvas I made to share with you this week which incorporates a lot of smaller items from the various Prima Grab Bags and kits which are sold in the store. For this particular canvas I have used items from the Summer 2012 CHA Grab Bag and the Prima North Country Bundle. 

I've been making brightly colored projects recently, and this canvas was no exception. I wanted a feel of spring/summer to it, which is why I chose the bright colors. 

If you didn't already notice, my tree is made of Prima Resist Canvas Clocks and Gears from the Craftsman Collection. I misted them with a green mist, added some more shimmery paint, and added them to my tree trunk for the leaves. The trunk is from the North Country paper pad. 

All of the flowers on the lower half of the canvas are from the North Country Bundle as well. I cut some plastic flower doilys in half for grass and stained them green with my ink. 

I pulled the butterflys from the Grab Bag, which are from the Zephyr Collection by Prima. I added some more color to them with some paint. They felt too bland without paint on them. The paint helps them blend in with the rest of the canvas.

Altered Frame

Hellooooo everyone Heather here with a project to share. So I had this little ugly plastic frame sitting around in a junk drawer since I was in middle school (hoarder much?) and the other day I was going through stuff, came across the frame and thought "yanno...I bet I could make this pretty and have it out instead of hiding away in a drawer."

 

I covered some grungeboard I had in my stash with foil & embossed it. Some free hand and some with my sizzix. Then I decorated with inks, glimmer mists, stickles, cheesecloth, flowers, & a feather. Here's some close ups:

ATC with DeNetra

Hey everyone. I hope you all are doing well. Today I have an over sized ATC to share with you.

 It's only about 3 1/2 x 4 but I think ATC's are much smaller. I made a couple more to be strung together...but you have to wait to see them (wink)

Mixed Media ATC

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is keeping safe in the East from all these snow storms! Yikes!
I wanted to share with you today a series of ATCs that I've made. I'm going to share the first one
today and then the next two on the following Saturdays. I finally got a chance to play with the FUN
Craftsman Grab Bag. This is such a versatile bag of gems! It has some terrific embellishments that can
add that special touch to any project.
For this first ATC, I am using some self-adhesive chipboard pieces....the hand, gear and lightbulb. To start, I pulled out my Faber-Castell Gelatos with a paint brush and some water to create a background. Then, I took my Prima chalk inks  and used a gear stamp from the Craftsman stamp collection available with the grab bag and stamped over the Gelato bkgd. To finish, I stamped yet another Craftman sentiment stamp that says "Dude....wow!..serious" and then applied the chipboard pieces. Lastly, a wood button, also a part of the grab bag, was added to give it dimension. I really like the look of the mixed media/steampunk feel to it. Blue Valentine - YMH Out of the Blue Kit

Happy Friday! Dana here today sharing a Blue Valentine Plaque that I created with the gorgeous Out Of The Blue Kit. This beautiful kit features papers from the Prima Fairy Belle collection as well as Prima flowers,  alphabet stickers and rhinestones. I used a chipboard album page that I had in my stash for the base of this piece as well as some additional embellishments from my Prima Grab Bag. I wanted to make something special for my sweetheart for Valentine's Day and the blue and brown elements from the Out Of The Blue Kit were just what I was looking for!

The Shabby Chic Resin pieces are fabulous and this little cherub was a great addition to my flower cluster. I filled the heart with flower packaging.  The doily pattern is romantic without being overly feminine and I love the light that is able to shine through the opening.

I cut the clock piece from some embellishment packaging. It was the perfect addition to this flower cluster and goes well with the message that I added to this plaque; "I will be the one who loves you. 'Til the end of time." I rounded out my flower cluster with some stamped leaves.  I added a lot of flowers to this page so I wanted to bring in another masculine element to help balance them and used a Prima Brick Wall Mask with some Sparkle Texture Effect.

Hi everyone! I tried some embossing this week. I have the Heat It tool that I got in the YMH store. It's available for $24.99 & it's great.

I used my Heat It tool with the the Tim Holtz distress embossing ink pad. I stamped some hearts on the cardstock & wanted them to blend in with the background so I used Tim Holtz distress embossing powder in peeled paint (a green). I used the same embossing powder with the sentiment stamp but with kraft cardstock so that it stands out. I had stamped the hearts in a diagonal so I also splattered some olive vine Glimmer Mist along the diagonal as well.

I'll share a close up photo of the embossed hearts so you can see them better. They look really cool in person.

The patterned paper & flowers are by Prima, but they came in my grab bag. The paper is from the Melody collection & the flowers are called avon rose pixie glen. These are some similar ones (in yellow) that are available in the store.

Hey You - A Card for Friends

Hi everyone, Nancy here and today I want to share with you a green friendship card I made using one of the Sizzix dies I purchased from Kristina.  Don't forget...all those gorgeous new Sizzix dies that are being released...Kristina can special order for you at a discount.

I began this card by coloring my stamped image using Tim Holtz Distress Markers.  I love that these distress markers make it so easy to create a water color look on my project with just the addition of a little water and a paint brush.

And of course I couldn't resist using a few gorgeous Prima Blooms to brighten the card; and a bit of seam binding dyed with some green Glimmer Mist.  This card is just perfect for spring with its bright, cheery green and bits of pink.

A simple sentiment with a Prima sticker completed the look.  I love the way this project came together with the mixture of Prima, Distress Markers, and Sizzix.  I think this die has to be one of my favorite dies ever.

Music holds the key...

Since I can remember, music has been a very important part of my life. I remember riding in the car with my mom or dad and them playing oldies music, classic country or classic rock. My mom used to sing around the house. As I grew older, I developed my own taste in music, largely influenced by what I listened to as a child. Music is very important. It is a language all it's own. That is why I created the tag I have to share with you today using some lovely items from the Your Memories Here store. 

I wanted the tag to be distressed and simple with minimal embellishments. I used Distress Stain in Vintage Photo to color the tag and added water to help blend it into and all over the tag. I used an music notes acrylic stamp to stamp the music notes over the tag. I took Prima flowers from my Summer 2012 Prima Grab Bag and from my Prima North Country kit to embellish the tag on the top and bottom corners. 

I created the heart using a stencil and modeling paste which I then colored with paints. The key was from my parents farm in one of the many boxes of vintage items we cleaned off of the farm that my dad gave to me. I was really happy to get them! 

I used the same colored paint I used on my heart on my flower and on the key as well. It helped bring all of the pieces together.

It's Exhausting...

It's Exhausting Being {so} Glamorous.

 

I had a lot of fun making this one. I cut out the dressform from a piece of cardboard I had around and decorated it with all kinds of paint, stickles, lace, glimmer mist, feathers, and a handmade flower.

Love Tag with DeNetra

Hey everyone ! I hope you all are doing well. 

I have a simple, rather large tag, to show you today. 

I used Prima's Rondelle Collection. I love this paper. 

The pinks are super nice in the paper. 

I distress all edges and used Black Soot distress stain. 

Stickles was an after thought...but I like the look of it. 

Something gloomy, pink, and glittery.

A portrait of Dad...

I'll be honest...when I first saw the Craftsman Collection grab bag available at Your Memories Here, I wondered if I could use it. It just didn't seem to appeal to me...at first. Then, I joined Prima Live to watch a demonstration and wow.....I ran immediately over and purchased it. I thought "this is PERFECT for my dad!".....and boyfriend....BIL....but, has feminine aspects to it that I KNEW would look great with a Steampunk theme. So today I share with you a layout in remembrance of my dad. He would have been 71 y/o this February 10th.  I miss him more and more every. single. day. But, at the same time, it's comforting to know he is watching over all of us too! He just adored trains and this adhesive chipboard is just the ticket a long with a journal card, adhesive stickers and letters as well as a couple more adhesive chipboard pieces.It's part of the grab bag collection. His picture is enhanced with a "vintage photo" filter from Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Love Candy Container - Prima

Hi YMH fans!  Dana here today sharing an altered candy container that I created for my sweetheart.  I started with an empty tomato container, added ribbon, lace and some goodies from my Prima Grab Bag, and came up with this!

Here's a peek inside. No candy container would be complete without some chocolate!

I built this embellishment cluster with flowers from the the Prima Almanac collection and a beautiful Shabby Chic Treasure Resin Cherub.

I also added a Love charm.

a Valentine's tag.

Sorry everyone! I have been sick all week & I typed out my post & saved it but didn't publish it!

I have a quick Valentine's day tag to share with you guys. I used the Glitz Design 6x6 pads (Hello Friend & Yours Truly). The Prima flowers & trinket are from the Prima grab bag. These flowers are called avon rose pixie glen & here are some similar ones. The vintage trinkets are a package of birds & birdcages that are really cute & you can see some similar here.

I used Tim Holtz barn door (red) distress ink to stamp the sentiment & I also used antique linen distress ink around the bird & around the edges of the tag.

Spring House - Zephyr

Hi everyone, Nancy here today!  The weather here in Northern California has been slowly transitioning to spring.  The flowers are starting to bloom and the hills around me have turned a lovely shade of green.  I have been decluttering and destashing and just trying to lighten everything up after our winter.  Time to change out my dining room centerpiece.  This year I think I may just make some fun paper houses to decorate.

For this house I used papers from the gorgeous Zephyr Collection by Prima Marketing.

Mixed with a few items from my Prima Grab Bag I was quickly able to create this spring time house using my Cricut and the Winter Woodland cartridge (yes, it was originally a Christmas house)

I love the bright, spring time colors in the Zephyr collection and think they will brighten my dining room this spring.

Trust your Heart

Hi there friends! Emily here today with a shipping tag I altered using some great goodies I received in one of the Prima Grab bags found in the YMH store! 

As you can see, I love my neutrals still. I try to make colorful pieces when I can, but my go-to colors are always in the neutral colors such as browns, creams and golds. :) 

I used the Shabby Chic Treasures resin wings and heart from the grab bag, as well as the flower. Distress Stain in Vintage Photo was used on the tag after I sprayed it down with some Glimmer Mist and crumpled it up. The crystals and pearl trim was also a Grab Bag snag! I should also add that I stamped lightly over the background before adding my larger pieces using Helmar 450 Quick Dry.

I added some paint and mist to both the heart and wings and the flower at the bottom of my tag. A lot of times, I don't even use the flowers the way that they come. I can't seem to NOT alter them in some way! But that is the fun of art, isn't it?! :)

Pocket Journal with DeNetra

Hey everyone ! I hope you all are having a great day.
I have made a simple and easy pocket journal using Prima's Zephyr paper and stamps.
I think it measures a little over 4 1/2 inches. Super adorable. 
I hand cut all the elements and distressed it all.

I also used up lots of my scraps...have to make room for the new CHA stuff...right ?
